23 November 1915. Age 28. Son of William James and Sarah Fowler of
99 Florence Rd, New Cross, London. Born Dover in about 1887. In 1891
the family were living at 6 Newgate Road, Hastings; Mr Fowler was a
farrier smith. Walter then had a younger sister, Alice Louisa, and a
younger brother, Alfred John. They moved to 69 Palace Road, Bromley
by 1901; Walter had gained three more brothers, William James, and
in 1901 twins Frederick Sidney and Charles Herbert. Leslie Harold
followed in 1903, and in 1911 the family were at 8 Florence
Cottages, New Cross, London. Walter had left home, but his father
had noted that he was an out-of-work roundsman. His brother, William James,
in 1911 a roundsman for a baker, also died,
on 29 March 1918, and is buried at Roclincourt Valley Cemetery, IV F
