Exhibition 2006 - Notes
Walter Tull is justly famed as the first black professional
outfield football player in a British team, and as the first black combat
officer in the British army. His career is well-documented.
Walter Tull was in fact of dual heritage, and what is far
less known, however, is that Walter Tull's mother was from
Dover in Kent, and members of his family resided there for
many years after his death. Descendants of the family still
live in the area.
